Why do I choose to study Japanese

I am always interested in Japanese films and art. Works by 黑泽明，北野武，岩井俊二，and宫崎骏 are all fascinating. I am amazed by their philosophy and unique styles. Through this class I want to learn more about the Japanese culture, and hopefully I can understand Japanese movie with little help from the subtitles.However I found memorizing hiragana and translating romanized words into hiragana are quite challenging for me. I believe through practice I can overcome these difficulties.
